Be Prosperous!

What does it really mean to be prosperous?

Over, and over again we are bombarded on every side with the thoughts and tales of prosperity. Whether we are in the Church or out of the Church does not matter, everywhere we are smothered with the lusts of what we seem to think is prosperity.

It would help that when we stand praying and asking God for something that we really knew what it was we are asking for, can I get a witness?!

No joke, I have actually heard people speaking things out of their mouths that were curses instead of blessings!

We speak of Blessing, Prosperity & Wealth as if they are the same thing, and no wonder we have been taught that from not only the world we live in, but from the pulpit as well! We tend to believe these three words to be monetary in nature when in reality generally the opposite would be the better of the truth, again this is because we have been taught how to “react” to these words rather than act upon them.

Far to many professing Christians today have fallen victim to the crime of  “backwardness” or a lack of knowledge. Many times it’s simply because we have put all of our proverbial eggs into one basket.

In other words, we rely way to heavily on mans ability to interpret any given subject whether it’s actually in the Bible or not.  Often we can’t even find half of what’s being taught in the Church today in the Bible, because of this deep lack of understanding, and the twisting of the truth.

Yes, we may find what we believe at first glance to be the correct answer, but… dig a little deeper!

I honestly believe that the majority of Christians today truly want to make the right decisions, they want to do what is right in the sight of God, the problem has been the leaders of today, or those who have put themselves in that position. There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing! Not because our Creator put them there, but because the god of this world put them there to lead unsuspecting believers astray.

THE PROOF IS IN THE TRUTH!

Countless times I have witnessed within the walls of the Church, those who profess to be “Christian” but whose actions look more like an episode from a reality show that went horribly wrong all because of money.

Does our Creator and God want us to prosper and be prosperous monetarily?  Absolutely yes! Remember that He is the very one who institutes & gives wealth, prosperity and blessing, but how we attain it is the key here along with the correct interpretation of all three words!  Deut. 8:18

Our God wants us to prosper surely, but He wants our souls to prosper first and foremost, once our souls begin to prosper, all other things begin to prosper as well.

We must understand that the Bible was penned in the Hebrew and the Greek, and so in many instances we need to revert back to some original word in order to get the true meaning and feel for a word.

The Hebrew understanding comes from the word: Tsalasch (tsaw-lakh’)

To advance, make progress, succeed, be profitable. Pushing forward, striving, passing through, thriving & succeeding.

If we look at the scripture from Gods point of view that our relationship with Him prosper first, it makes perfect sense!

So, what is the heart of the word Prosperous, what exactly am I asking God for?

” To have Gods truth, and the wisdom to walk out that truth!”

Wow! Now that is a very far cry from the popular teaching of today no matter who you are or what Denomination you claim!

Proverbs 24:3-4 “Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” KJV

Through wisdom, understanding, and knowledge we increase in true riches. We find in the passages of scripture the true meaning of biblical prosperity by not lowering our God to our standards of monetary prosperity, we find the excellence of His will and His way for our lives. My prayer for all of us is that we truly prosper according to our creator’s  design!

“True Prosperity is knowing God, and having the wisdom to walk out His truth in our lives.”

Yes, keep this book of the Torah  on your lips, and meditate on it day and night, so that you will take care to act according to everything written in it. Then your undertakings will prosper, and you will succeed.” CJB

Joshua 1:8

  • Torah:  (Instructions) some translations use “law”
  • Psalm 35:27,Mt.6:19-21,Mt.6:24,Prov,24:4,Prov.10:22

The Lords Prayer?

Countless times we have heard that the Lords Prayer  is found in Matthew 6, but is it?

If we take a closer look at this scripture we find this is not the case at all, what  a surprise!

Matthew Chapter 6  is a part of a set of  instructions on how we are to live and conduct ourselves, spiritually, morally, and socially, better known as the “Beatitudes.”

What we do find is a  “model”  of how we are to pray.

Let’s take a closer look at these instructions from Yeshua (Jesus) starting in verse 9 with the model prayer…

” Our Father in heaven( acknowledgement of God’s supremacy), hallowed be your name

( Confessing honor), your kingdom come, and your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. ( Confessing God’s sovereignty, giving over our will to His.)

Give us today our daily bread ( asking for sustenance this applies to spiritual food as well, His Word).

Forgive us our debts, as we have also forgiven our debtors.

( this is not only physical debt, but spiritual debt as well.)

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

( God tempts no man, confessing that Satan is “tempter”.)

This can also be translated as one who is tempted to do evil, but stands their ground against it. Temptation is not the sin, giving into its evil is the sin.

God does  allow us to be “tested”  but He himself does not “tempt” to do evil.

This is another great word study “tempt” and I would love to cover this topic as well in the near future keep looking for it!

The actual “ Lords Prayer” is found in John 17, when our Lord prayed to the Father just before His crucifixion.

We see 3 distinct prayers that Our Lord asked of the Father just before His arrest.

  1. He prayed for Himself: That His glorification be complete as He gives His life, and returns to the Father.

2. He prayed for His Disciples: That God would protect them from the evil one, Satan.

3.  He prayed for all believers: That they would be one, as He and His Father are one.

So, just like this idea most often the things we hear are “misconceptions” that we tend to believe because we simply have not taken the time to study out the things we hear.

Let us be partakers in our own understanding. I look forward to sharing more short studies just like this one!
